Leader Local Grants – Vote for Moonee Valley Brass

Exciting news! We have been short-listed as a finalist in the Leader Local Grants Program! We have applied for funding for a new Marching Bass Drum which will have ‘Moonee Valley Brass’ printed on it. This will replace the ‘Essendon City Band’ drum which we currently use. We will be keeping the old drum as it is an important part of our heritage, but it would be nice to have our current name on this important piece of equipment.

The final winner of the grant is decided by popular vote, so we need your help! We would love you to vote for us – please see below for details:

  1. Voting is open to all those who register on the website, who are 18 or older and live in Victoria –
  2. Voting opens at 9am on Monday 24th June (TODAY!) and closes at 5pm on Friday 5th July, 2013.
  3. Each person who registers will be allocated ten votes per grant cycle to vote on any idea or ideas they support. You can allocate all your 10 votes to the one project
  4. The name of our project is Moonee Valley Brass – Marching to the Beat!
  5. There are strict rules regarding fraudulent voting, so please only register once.

Please encourage all your friends and family to vote as well – this is a great opportunity for  us!

Grant received from Bendigo Bank – Keilor Branch

Moonee Valley Brass is pleased to announce that we have been the recipient of a $7,500 grant from the Keilor Branch of Bendigo Bank.

We have used this grant to purchase a new Tenor Horn (which now completes our set) and a new cornet. We hope to replace another 3 cornets over the coming years.

We would like to extend our thanks to Bendigo Bank Keilor for their generosity.

New Musical Director

We’d like to welcome back to our Musical Director position Mr Greg Flood.

Greg is replacing Wally and is following on from his fantastic work in lifting the band from D-Grade to C-Grade. Thanks to Wally’s hard work, we won all of our competitions in D-Grade in 2011 and are now one of the top C-Grade bands in the country. We hope Wally all the best with his new life in Western Victoria.

Greg’s first performance with the band will be our Fundraising Cabaret held on October 20th.
