Launch of our new Development Band

Moonee Valley Brass invites you to join our newly founded Development Band.

We strongly believe that it is never too late or too early to learn to play an instrument. A new study by researchers at St Andrews University in Scotland have found that even moderate musical activity can enhance brain function and slow, or even stop, age-related decline in mental function.

The band is open to ages 7—97 and all abilities, from absolute beginners to those picking up an instrument after a long break.

No instrument? No worries!
We have instruments available for hire!

Lessons are held each Monday night from 6.00pm—7.00pm at the Bradshaw St Community Hall (9 Bradshaw St, Essendon)

There is no fee for the lessons however a gold coin donation is welcomed. Instruments are available for hire for $25.00 per semester.

Our first session will take place on Monday July 14th.

Please email info@mooneevalleybrass.org to book your spot today!

Leader Local Grants – Vote for Moonee Valley Brass!

Exciting news! We have been short-listed as a finalist in the Leader Local Grants Program! We have applied for funding for a new Marching Bass Drum which will have ‘Moonee Valley Brass’ printed on it. This will replace the ‘Essendon City Band’ drum which we currently use. We will be keeping the old drum as it is an important part of our heritage, but it would be nice to have our current name on this important piece of equipment.

The final winner of the grant is decided by popular vote, so we need your help! We would love you to vote for us – please see below for details:

  1. Voting is open to all those who register on the website, who are 18 or older and live in Victoria – www.leaderlocalgrants.com.au
  2. Voting opens at 9am on Monday 2nd June and closes at 5pm on Friday 13th June, 2014.
  3. Each person who registers will be allocated ten votes per grant cycle to vote on any idea or ideas they support. You can allocate all your 10 votes to the one project
  4. The name of our project is Moonee Valley Brass – Marching to the Beat!
  5. There are strict rules regarding fraudulent voting, so please only register once.
  6. It can be difficult to find the band project. It helps if you search by local paper. Ours is the Moonee Valley Leader.

Please encourage all your friends and family to vote as well – this is a great opportunity for  us!
