Aberfeldie Brass is a friendly community brass band based in Melbourne’s inner north-west, welcoming players of all ages and abilities. Whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time, returning after many years away, or already an experienced musician, there is a place for you in the band.

Our goal is simple: to create a supportive and enjoyable environment where people can make music together and be part of a community.

New to brass instruments? No problem. Aberfeldie Brass offers free beginner lessons to help you get started. Our experienced players and teachers will guide you step-by-step so you can quickly build confidence and enjoy playing music with others.

Don’t have your own instrument yet? We have instruments available for hire, making it easy and affordable to start learning. We can help you find the right instrument and get set up from your very first rehearsal.

A Welcoming Community

Aberfeldie Brass is more than just a band — it’s a community. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels, and new players are always supported as they learn and grow.

We rehearse weekly and perform at a range of local events, concerts, and community performances, giving members the chance to develop their skills and share music with the community.

Come and Try It

If you’ve ever thought about learning a brass or percussion instrument or joining a band, this is the perfect place to start. Visitors are always welcome to come along to a rehearsal, meet the band, and see what it’s all about.

Rehearsals are held each Monday night from 6.00pm—7.15pm at the Bradshaw St Community Hall (9 Bradshaw St, Essendon) during school term. There are no rehearsals during school holidays.

Instruments are available for hire for $25.00 per semester.
